Born and raised in Jefferson, Ohio Ned graduated from Louisiana Tech University in the spring of 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. In 1985, after a short seasonal job with the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado, Ned moved to Florida to work for the Florida Division of Forestry. He worked for 1 year as a Forester/Ranger, 8 years as the Putnam County Forester and 2 years as the Senior Forester for the Welaka State Forest. After a productive eleven years with the state, he joined NRPS in March of 1997. Ned’s Bible verse for forestry is Psalms 96:12 & 13a “Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord, for He is coming;”. Ned’s favorite management task is prescribed burning.
